Silicon; from Prehistory to the Future

Although little known, Silicon has always been one of the fundamental chemical elements in the evolution of our Society; from prehistoric flint stone tools to modern computer processors.
Associated with Oxygen, another well-known chemical element, Silicon gives rise to Silica, which often appears in Nature in forms of great beauty.
The main body of this exhibition consists of several dozen crystals of great aesthetic and scientific quality that allow us to approach a diverse set of topics related to Silicon. Silicon & Life; color, the reflection of imperfection; crystals, the expression of the invisible and Silica & Society are just some of the subjects explored.
The ideal complement to understand the challenges facing the so-called “sustainable development”…
